6 Ways To Stay Energetic By The End of The Workday
If you finish your workday and are very tired, here are some ways to stay energetic by the end of the day.The more peppy you feel, the more likely you will be to: exercise, cook a healthy meal, make good food choices for the rest of the day. You will probably also be more likely to use the remainder of the day constructively, instead of vegging out in from of the TV with a bowl of snack food. Your children/grandchildren will appreciate having more quality time with you.
Weight gain often happens because people are so tired at the end of the workday, that they just ‘grab’ anything to eat at night, and eat mindlessly at that. Here’s what you can do to stay energetic if that applies to you.
Stop Every Two Hours During The Day and Focus on Two Minutes of Diaphragmatic Breathing
Diaphragmatic breathing is an excellent way to get a good supply of oxygen into the lungs, release excess waste gases, stay mentally alert and emotionally balanced. Just short sessions done several times during the day will make a huge change in how you feel. All you need to do is take a brief pause at your desk. In the long run, you will save time in getting your work done, because you will be more focused and clear from the break.

Take Lunch With You
Eating fast food and quick packaged snacks is a sure energy depleter. If you are pressed for time in the morning, the best way to insure good eating during the day is to prepare your lunch the night before. Then in the morning, just open your frig, get your lunch, and be on your way.
Some people like to shop and prep over the weekend. Then cut up fruits and veggies, cook some eggs, have hummus available, make soup, or do whatever else is needed to start the week off right. You can also cook extra food the night before and take it for lunch the next day.
Think veggies and lean protein for a nourished body and clear mind.

Take Breaks During The Day
It so easy to get sluggish and sleepy when you are sitting all day, and most of us are sitting on our jobs. It becomes important to get up and move. Do a few stretches by your desk, take a walk around the hallways, go up and down stairs, or better yet get out for a short walk.
You will get your blood circulating, clear your mind, and burn a few calories in the process.
Avoid Sugary ‘Pick Me Ups’
Sugar is a strong energy depleter. People turn to it for a quick pickup. However, once your blood sugar level spikes and then drops, you are even more tired than you were originally. Sugar depletes the immune system, and predisposes us to diabetes, poor heart health, colds and flus, and even some types of cancer.
It’s better to get a lift from doing some breathing, moving your body, or perhaps having a cup of green tea. With a little effort, you can knock out those sugar cravings.
Get Some Fresh Air and Exercise Before Work
If you exercise before work, you will feel light, energized, and in a good mood. It will set a good tone for the day. Fresh air is a must for feeling well. If it’s very cold out, at least exercise indoors, and then watch the weather report for an opportunity to walk outside. Even 15 or 20 minutes outdoors will be invigorating.

Do A Relaxation Exercise After Work
The day is over and you can still use a boost of extra energy to carry on in comfort for the rest of the day. Five or ten minutes of relaxation can do wonders. It can take you from being very tired, to feeling like you just woke up from a refreshing nap. Just beware — you don’t want to sleep during your relaxation exercise. Your goal is to relax the body while you keep your mind alert.
It’s best to start with one thing at a time. Which of these six suggestions draws you the most? I’d suggest starting with that one. Once you have it down as part of your weekly routine, you can add another, a later still another. Make the process as enjoyable as you can, and watch your feelings of well-being soar!
